Joseph P. Beckman, Of Counsel

Joseph P. Beckman has extensive experience with e-commerce counseling, e-commerce contracts, internet law, payment processing, privacy and general corporate and business law. In the past he has acted in the general counsel capacity for two publicly traded technology companies. Joe also has substantial expertise in insurance coverage, employment and complex commercial litigation.

Speaking Engagements and Articles
Joe has been an Associate Editor of Litigation News, a bi-monthly publication of the ABA Section of Litigation, since 1996. He has been a featured speaker on topics of technology, contracts and indemnity issues at Minnesota Continuing Legal Education and ABA Section of Business Law events.

Education
Joe earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1988, where he was the Business Editor for the American Criminal Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola University of Chicago, cum laude, in 1985.

Memberships and Activities
Joe is a member of the ABA Section of Litigation Leadership, as well as active in the Business Law Section. He is also active in the Association of Corporate Counsel and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional credential from the IAPP. Joe has been a volunteer with the Ramsey County Guardian ad Litem program since 2002, and maintains an active caseload in that capacity.
